A pale gaunt man who lodged with HannB
I bear he said the worst of woesA
And suffer torments no one knowsA
For do my best I never canB
Have sleep like any other manB

At times it drives me mad outrightD
Whate er I do where er I beC
Its just the same so sleep for meC
You won t believe for three years quiteD
I haven t slept two hours a nightD

Boss cocky Billson softly sworeE
And turning from his chestnut cobF
What s that he questioned from the doorE
You say that you don t sleep no moreE
Than two hours I pay thirty bobF
Now mister do you want a jobF
