Justice Denied In Massachusetts Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDCEFG BHIJHKLM LNMMMOPQ MOOFRLF SMNHRSN

Let us abandon then our gardens and go homeA
And sit in the sitting roomB
Shall the larkspur blossom or the corn grow under this cloudC
Sour to the fruitful seedD
Is the cold earth under this cloudC
Fostering quack and weed we have marched upon but cannotE
conquerF
We have bent the blades of our hoes against the stalks of themG
-
Let us go home and sit in the sitting roomB
Not in our dayH
Shall the cloud go over and the sun rise as beforeI
Beneficent upon usJ
Out of the glittering bayH
And the warm winds be blown inward from the seaK
Moving the blades of cornL
With a peaceful soundM
-
Forlorn forlornL
Stands the blue hay rack by the empty mowN
And the petals drop to the groundM
Leaving the tree unfruitedM
The sun that warmed our stooping backs and withered the weedM
uprooted mdashO
We shall not feel it againP
We shall die in darkness and be buried in the rainQ
-
What from the splendid deadM
We have inherited mdashO
Furrows sweet to the grain and the weed subdued mdashO
See now the slug and the mildew plunderF
Evil does overwhelmR
The larkspur and the cornL
We have seen them go underF
-
Let us sit here sit stillS
Here in the sitting room until we dieM
At the step of Death on the walk rise and goN
Leaving to our children's children the beautiful doorwayH
And this elmR
And a blighted earth to tillS
With a broken hoeN
