Journey Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIAJCKLMNOPQR STUVFWXYZA2EB2C2

Ah could I lay me down in this long grassA
And close my eyes and let the quiet windB
Blow over me I am so tired so tiredC
Of passing pleasant places All my lifeD
Following Care along the dusty roadE
Have I looked back at loveliness and sighedF
Yet at my hand an unrelenting handG
Tugged ever and I passed All my life longH
Over my shoulder have I looked at peaceI
And now I fain would lie in this long grassA
And close my eyesJ
Yet onwardC
Cat birds callK
Through the long afternoon and creeks at duskL
Are guttural Whip poor wills wake and cryM
Drawing the twilight close about their throatsN
Only my heart makes answer Eager vinesO
Go up the rocks and wait flushed apple treesP
Pause in their dance and break the ring for meQ
Dim shady wood roads redolent of fernR
And bayberry that through sweet bevies threadS
Of round faced roses pink and petulantT
Look back and beckon ere they disappearU
Only my heart only my heart respondsV
Yet ah my path is sweet on either sideF
All through the dragging day sharp underfootW
And hot and like dead mist the dry dust hangsX
But far oh far as passionate eye can reachY
And long ah long as rapturous eye can clingZ
The world is mine blue hill still silver lakeA2
Broad field bright flower and the long white roadE
A gateless garden and an open pathB2
My feet to follow and my heart to holdC2
