Elegy Before Death Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHIJ KLAL DMGM

There will be rose and rhododendronA
When you are dead and under groundB
Still will be heard from white syringasC
Heavy with bees a sunny soundB
-
Still will the tamaracks be rainingD
After the rain has ceased and stillE
Will there be robins in the stubbleF
Brown sheep upon the warm green hillE
-
Spring will not ail nor autumn falterG
Nothing will know that you are goneH
Saving alone some sullen plough landI
None but yourself sets foot uponJ
-
Saving the may weed and the pig weedK
Nothing will know that you are deadL
These and perhaps a useless wagonA
Standing beside some tumbled shedL
-
Oh there will pass with your great passingD
Little of beauty not your ownM
Only the light from common waterG
Only the grace from simple stoneM
