Departure Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGI ABAB J J

It's little I care what path I takeA
And where it leads it's little I careB
But out of this house lest my heart breakA
I must go and off somewhereB
-
It's little I know what's in my heartC
What's in my mind it's little I knowD
But there's that in me must up and startC
And it's little I care where my feet goD
-
I wish I could walk for a day and a nightE
And find me at dawn in a desolate placeF
With never the rut of a road in sightE
Nor the roof of a house nor the eyes of a faceF
-
I wish I could walk till my blood should spoutG
And drop me never to stir againH
On a shore that is wide for the tide is outG
And the weedy rocks are bare to the rainI
-
But dump or dock where the path I takeA
Brings up it's little enough I careB
And it's little I'd mind the fuss they'll makeA
Huddled dead in a ditch somewhereB
-
'Is something the matter dear ' she saidJ
'That you sit at your work so silently '-
'No mother no 'twas a knot in my threadJ
There goes the kettle I'll make the tea '-
