A Visit To The Asylum Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHIH CJKJ CLCL MKNK

Once from a big big buildingA
When I was small smallB
The queer folk in the windowsC
Would smile at me and callB
-
And in the hard wee gardensD
Such pleasant men would hoeE
Sir may we touch the little girl's hair mdashF
It was so red you knowE
-
They cut me coloured astersG
With shears so sharp and neatH
They brought me grapes and plums and pearsI
And pretty cakes to eatH
-
And out of all the windowsC
No matter where we wentJ
The merriest eyes would follow meK
And make me complimentJ
-
There were a thousand windowsC
All latticed up and downL
And up to all the windowsC
When we went back to townL
-
The queer folk put their facesM
As gentle as could beK
Come again little girl they called and IN
Called back You come see meK
