Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEEDEEFEFGGThe antique Babel empresse of the East | A |
Upreard her buildinges to the threatned skie | B |
And second Babell tyrant of the West | C |
Her ayry towers upraised much more high | D |
But with the weight of their own surquedry | E |
They both are fallen that all the earth did feare | E |
And buried now in their own ashes ly | D |
Yet shewing by their heapes how great they were | E |
But in their place doth now a third appeare | E |
Fayre Venice flower of the last worlds delight | F |
And next to them in beauty draweth neare | E |
But farre exceedes in policie of right | F |
Yet not so fayre her buildinges to behold | G |
As Lewkenors stile that hath her beautie told | G |
