And Is There Care In Heaven, And Is There Love Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBBDBDD EFEFFFFFF

And is there care in heaven and is there loveA
In heavenly spirits to us creatures baseB
That may compassion of our evils moveC
There is else much more wretched were the caseB
Of men than beasts but oh the exceeding graceB
Of highest God that loves his creatures soD
And all his works with mercy doth embraceB
That blessed angels He sends to and froD
To serve even wicked men to serve his wicked foeD
-
How oft do they their silver bowers leaveE
And come to succour us that succour wantF
How oft do they with golden pinions cleaveE
The flitting skies like flying pursuivantF
Against foul fiends to aid us militantF
They for us fight they watch and duly wardF
And their bright squadrons round about us plantF
And all for love and nothing for rewardF
Oh why should heavenly God to men have such regardF
