Euryalus Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAAAAABA CDCDCD

UPWARD we went by fields of asphodelA
Leaving Ortygia's moat bound walls belowA
By orchards where the wind flowers' drifted snowA
Lay lightly heaped upon the turf's light swellA
By gardens whence upon the wayside fellA
Jasmine and rose in April's overflowA
Till winding up in Epipolae's wide browB
We reached at last the lonely citadelA
-
-
There on the ruined rampart climbing highC
We sat and dreamed among the browsing sheepD
Until we heard the trumpet's startled cryC
Waking a clang of arms about the keepD
And seaward saw with rapt foreboding eyeC
The sails of Athens whiten on the deepD
