Vies Manquees Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEDE CFCF GHGH IJKJ BCBC HLHL

A YEAR ago we walked the woodA
A year ago to dayB
A blackbird fluttered round her broodC
Deep in the white flowered mayB
-
-
We trod the happy woodland waysD
Where sunset streamed betweenE
The hazel stems in long dusk raysD
And turned to gold the greenE
-
-
A thrush sang where the ferns uncurledC
And clouds of wind flowers grewF
I missed the meaning of the worldC
From lack of love for youF
-
-
You missed the beauty of the yearG
And failed its self to seeH
Through too much doubt and too much fearG
And too much love of meH
-
-
This year we hear the birds' glad strainI
Again the sunset glowsJ
We walk the wild wet woods againK
Again the wind flower blowsJ
-
-
In cloudy white the falling mayB
Drifts down the scented windC
And so the secret drifts awayB
Which we shall never findC
-
-
Our drifted spirits are not freeH
Spring's secret springs to touchL
For now you do not care for meH
And I love you too muchL
