To Iris Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACDEDE AFAFGHGH IJIJKAKA LMLMFNFN

IF I might build a palace fairA
With every joy of soul and senseB
And set my heart as sentry thereA
To guard your happy innocenceC
If I might plant a hedge so strongD
No creeping sorrow could writhe throughE
And find my whole life not too longD
To give to make your hedge for youE
-
If I could teach the wandering airA
To bring no sounds that were not sweetF
Could teach the earth that only fairA
Untrodden flower deserved your feetF
Would I not tear the secret scrollG
Where all your griefs lie closely curledH
And give your little hand controlG
Of all the joys of all the worldH
-
But ah I have no skill to raiseI
The palace teach the hedge to growJ
The common airs blow through your daysI
By common ways your dear feet goJ
And you must twine of common flowersK
The wreath that happy women wearA
And bear in desolate darkened hoursK
The common griefs that all men bearA
-
The pinions of my love I foldL
Your little shoulders close aboutM
Ah could my love keep out the coldL
And shut the creeping sorrows outM
Rough paths will tire your darling feetF
Gray skies will weep your tears aboveN
While round you still in torment beatF
The impotent wings of mother loveN
