The Prodigal Son Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCE FGFG HIHJ KLKL

COME home come home for your eyes are soreA
With the glare of the noonday sunB
And nothing looks as it did beforeA
And the best of the day is doneB
-
You have played your match and ridden your raceC
You have fought in your fight and lostD
And life has set its claws in your faceC
And you know what the scratches costE
-
Out there the world is cruel and loudF
It strikes at the beaten manG
Come out of the press of the stranger crowdF
To the place where your life beganG
-
The best robe lies in the cedar chestH
And your father's ring is hereI
You have known the worst come home to the bestH
You will pay for it never fearJ
-
In every kiss of your sister's mouthK
In each tear from your mother's eyesL
You will pay the price of the days in the SouthK
Where the far off country liesL
