The Pedlar Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHGH IJIJDKDK DJDJHBHB

FLY fly my pretty pigeon flyA
And see if you can find himB
He has blue eyes you'll know him byA
He wears a pack behind himB
He's gone away ah many a mileC
Because he could not please meD
And oh 'twill be a weary whileC
Ere next he comes to tease meD
-
-
He carries wares of every kindE
Fine ribbons silks and lacesF
Bargains to rhyme with every mindE
And hues to suit all facesF
He has gold rings and pretty thingsG
That other maids will throng forH
Ah pigeon spread your pretty wingsG
And fly to him I long forH
-
-
Tell him to turn and come againI
For once I sent him packingJ
He offered me a bargain thenI
But wit and price were lackingJ
I have the price he asked of meD
The wit that will not weigh itK
Ah bid him come again and seeD
How gladly I will pay itK
-
-
A heart of gold he offered meD
As 'twere a penny fairingJ
And only asked a worthless feeD
This heavy heart I'm wearingJ
I would not then now long and drearH
The white way winds behind himB
Ah seek him seek him Pigeon dearH
But you will never find himB
