The Last Defeat Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABACCBA DDEDFFED

Across the field of dayA
In sudden blazon layA
The pallid bar of goldB
Borne on the shield of dayA
Night had endured so longC
And now the Day grew strongC
With lance of light to holdB
The Night at bayA
-
So on my life's dull nightD
The splendour of your lightD
Traversed the dusky shieldE
And shone forth golden brightD
Your colours I have wornF
Through all the fight forlornF
And these with life I yieldE
To night to NightD
