The Ferry Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCAB DBEEDB FGHHIG JCKKJC LIIILI MDDDMD

DRAW close the curtains and shut outA
The spring's green glow and glitterB
The resurrection life of springC
To me brings no fresh blossomingC
I'm wearied of the flowers aboutA
The London sparrows' twitterB
-
-
If I could dream if I could seeD
Once more the slow smooth riverB
The narrow path she used to treadE
The sunlight on her little headE
The white fire of the hawthorn treeD
But I shall see them neverB
-
-
Only the boat in dreams I steerF
Among the tufted rushesG
I see her white gown through the grassH
That thrills with love to feel her passH
Only in dreams again I hearI
Those unforgotten thrushesG
-
-
Sometimes in dreams I see her standJ
Her hand held out and makingC
The sweet unreal so vivid seemK
I only know it is a dreamK
When I reach out to take her handJ
And find no hand for takingC
-
-
So once she stood and I too weakL
To dare to say 'I love her'I
I dropped her hand and took the oarI
And rowed her to the farther shoreI
I had my chance and did not speakL
And chances now are overI
-
-
How dark the room has grown yet noM
The sky is blue above meD
This is the boat the hawthorn treeD
Is showering blossoms down on meD
And she is here as long agoM
And she has learned to love meD
