The Egoists Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBA CDDC EFFE GHH IIJ KLLK

TWO strangers from opposing polesA
Meet in the torrid zone of LoveB
And their desire seems set aboveB
The limitation of their soulsA
-
This is the trap this is the snareC
This is the false enchanting lightD
And when it smoulders into nightD
How can each know the other is thereC
-
They own no bond of common speechE
Each from far shores by wild winds broughtF
Gropes for some cord of common thoughtF
To draw the other within reachE
-
Each when the dark tide drowns their starG
Cries out 'Thou art not one with meH
One flesh we seemed when eyes could seeH
But now how far thou art How far '-
-
Each calling 'Come be mine be wise '-
Stands obstinately in his placeI
How can these two come face to faceI
Till light spring from their meeting eyesJ
-
Could both but once cry 'Far thou artK
But I am coming ' How the beatL
Of waves that part them would retreatL
Resurge and find them heart to heartK
