The Beatific Vision Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD CEBEFGFG

OH God if I do my dutyA
And walk in the thorny wayB
Will you pay me with heavens of beautyA
Millions of lives awayB
Will you give me the music of heavenC
And the joy that none understandsD
In place of what life would have givenC
If I had held out my handsD
-
I have lived in a narrow prisonC
I have writhed 'neath a bitter creedE
And I dare to say that no heaven can payB
The renounced dream and deedE
But when my life's portal closesF
If you have no heaven to spareG
God give me a garden of rosesF
And some one to walk with thereG
