New Year Song Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDEDFGHG IJEKLMN ONPQ

WE climb the hill the mist concealsA
That valley where we could not stayB
Surely this hill's crest gained revealsA
The glory of the sunlit dayB
The hill is climbed Still shadow landC
Still darkling looms another hillD
Oh weary feet climb that to findE
A new ascent 'mid shadows stillD
We dare not stop or think of restF
This one hill may be all that liesG
Between us and our souls' desireH
The splendour of the eastern skiesG

-
Through long long lives we till and tendI
Sow weed and water all in vainJ
Without the flower we looked to findE
Each year springs blooms and dies againK
Bowed down with our unanswered prayersL
Our face averted from our pastM
We watch each year grow green and cryN
'Surely this brings our flower at last '-
Failure on failure What tired outO
Too tired to live Heart dare you dieN
When this new year may bud and bearP
Your longed for flower of LibertyQ
