Rhyme Scheme: ABAB ACAC DEDE FGFH

The wine of life was rough and newA
But sweet beyond beliefB
And wrong was false and right was trueA
The rose was in the leafB
-
In that good sunlight well we knewA
The hues of wrong and rightC
We slept among the roses throughA
The long enchanted nightC
-
Now to our eyes made dim with yearsD
Right intertwines with wrongE
How can we hear with these tired earsD
The old the magic songE
-
But this we know wine once was redF
Roses were red and dearG
Once in our ears the truths were saidF
That now the young men hearH
