From The Tuscan Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD

WHEN in the west the red sun sank in gloryA
The cypress trees stood up like gold fine goldB
The mother told her little child the storyA
Of the gold trees the heavenly gardens holdB
-
In golden dreams the child sees golden riversC
Gold trees gold blossoms golden boughs and leavesD
Without the cypress in the night wind shiversC
Weeps with the rain and with the darkness grievesD
