Evening Song Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCDDC EEFFGHIG JJKKLMMN

WHEN all the weary flowersA
Worn out with sunlit hoursA
Droop o'er the garden bedsB
Their little sleepy headsB
The dewy dusk on quiet wings comes stealingC
And as the night descendsD
The shadows troop like friendsD
To bring them healingC
-
-
So weary of the lightE
Of life too full and brightE
We long for night to fallF
To wrap us from it allF
Then death on dewy wings draws near and holds usG
And like a kind friend comeH
To children far from homeI
With love enfolds usG
-
-
But when the night is doneJ
Fresh to the morning sunJ
Their little faces yetK
With night's sweet dewdrops wetK
The flowers awake to the new day's new gracesL
And we ah shall we tooM
Turn to the daydawn newM
Our tear wet facesN
