Evening Prayer Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACDADA EFEFGHGH

NOT to the terrible God avenging brightA
Whose altars struck their roots in flame and bloodB
Not to the jealous God whose merciless mightA
The infamy of unclean years withstoodC
But to the God who lit the evening starD
Who taught the flower to blossom in delightA
Who taught His world what love and worship areD
We pray we two to nightA
-
-
To no vast Presence too immense to loveE
To no enthron d King too great to careF
To no strange Spirit human needs aboveE
We bring our little intimate heart warm prayerF
But to the God who is a Father tooG
The Father who loved and gave His only SonH
We pray across the cradle I and youG
For ours our little oneH
