Death Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBCCDEDE FGGHHIFIF JKKGGLJLMJ

NEVER againA
No child shall stir the inmost heart of herB
And teach her heaven by that first faint stirB
No little lips shall lie against her breastC
Save the cold lips that now lie there at restC
No little voice shall rouse her from her sleepD
And bid her wake to painE
Her sleep is calm and deepD
Call not refrainE
-
Close in her armF
As though even death drew back before the faceG
Of Motherhood in this white stilly placeG
The gathered bud lies waxen white and coldH
As ever a flower your winter gardens holdH
She bore the pain she never wore the crownI
She worked the bitter charmF
But all she won thereby is here laid downI
Renounced for good or harmF
-
Dream Feed your soulJ
With dreams while we must starve our hearts on clayK
Dream of a glorious white winged sun crowned dayK
When you shall see her once more face to faceG
Beside Christ's Mother in the blessed placeG
But while you dream they carry her from hereL
The black bells toll and tollJ
Oh God if only she cannot see or hearL
Not hear those ghoul like bells that crowd so nearM
Not see that cold clay holeJ
