At Evening Time There Shall Be Light Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEDE FGFGHIHI JKGKHLHL

THE day was wild with wind and rainA
One grey wrapped sky and sea and shoreB
It seemed our marsh would never againC
Wear the rich robes that once it woreB
The scattered farms looked sad and chillD
Their sheltering trees writhed all awryE
And waves of mist broke on the hillD
Where once the great sea thundered byE
-
-
Then God remembered this His landF
This little land that is our ownG
He caught the rain up in His handF
He hid the winds behind His throneG
He soothed the fretful waves to restH
He called the clouds to come awayI
And by blue pathways to the westH
They went like children tired of playI
-
-
And then God bade our marsh put onJ
Its holy vestment of fine goldK
From marge to marge the glory shoneG
On lichened farm and fence and foldK
In the gold sky that walled the westH
In each transfigured stone and treeL
The glory of God was manifestH
Plain for a little child to seeL
