Zilpha Marsh Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFAGHGGIGGGJGKGL MNII

At four o'clock in late OctoberA
I sat alone in the country school houseB
Back from the road 'mid stricken fieldsC
And an eddy of wind blew leaves on the paneD
And crooned in the flue of the cannon stoveE
With its open door blurring the shadowsF
With the spectral glow of a dying fireA
In an idle mood I was running the planchetteG
All at once my wrist grew limpH
And my hand moved rapidly over the boardG
Till the name of Charles Guiteau was spelledG
Who threatened to materialize before meI
I rose and fled from the room bare headedG
Into the dusk afraid of my giftG
And after that the spirits swarmedG
Chaucer C sar Poe and MarloweJ
Cleopatra and Mrs SurratG
Wherever I went with messagesK
Mere trifling twaddle Spoon River agreedG
You talk nonsense to children don't youL
And suppose I see what you never sawM
And never heard of and have no word forN
I must talk nonsense when you ask meI
What it is I seeI
