Willie Pennington Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFFFGAHAIJKThey called me the weakling the simpleton | A |
For my brothers were strong and beautiful | B |
While I the last child of parents who had aged | C |
Inherited only their residue of power | D |
But they my brothers were eaten up | E |
In the fury of the flesh which I had not | F |
Made pulp in the activity of the senses which I had not | F |
Hardened by the growth of the lusts which I had not | F |
Though making names and riches for themselves | G |
Then I the weak one the simpleton | A |
Resting in a little corner of life | H |
Saw a vision and through me many saw the vision | A |
Not knowing it was through me | I |
Thus a tree sprang | J |
From me a mustard seed | K |
