Widow Mcfarlane Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKDILMINOM

I was the Widow McFarlaneA
Weaver of carpets for all the villageB
And I pity you still at the loom of lifeC
You who are singing to the shuttleD
And lovingly watching the work of your handsE
If you reach the day of hate of terrible truthF
For the cloth of life is woven you knowG
To a pattern hidden under the loomH
A pattern you never seeI
And you weave high hearted singing singingJ
You guard the threads of love and friendshipK
For noble figures in gold and purpleD
And long after other eyes can seeI
You have woven a moon white strip of clothL
You laugh in your strength for Hope o'erlays itM
With shapes of love and beautyI
The loom stops short The pattern's outN
You're alone in the room You have woven a shroudO
And hate of it lays you in itM
