Tom Merritt Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCADEFGHAIJK

At first I suspected somethingA
She acted so calm and absent mindedB
And one day I heard the back door shutC
As I entered the front and I saw him slinkA
Back of the smokehouse into the lotD
And run across the fieldE
And I meant to kill him on sightF
But that day walking near Fourth BridgeG
Without a stick or a stone at handH
All of a sudden I saw him standingA
Scared to death holding his rabbitsI
And all I could say was Don't Don't Don'tJ
As he aimed and fired at my heartK
