Theodore The Poet Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKLMNMOPAs a boy Theodore you sat for long hours | A |
On the shore of the turbid Spoon | B |
With deep set eye staring at the door of the crawfish's burrow | C |
Waiting for him to appear pushing ahead | D |
First his waving antennae like straws of hay | E |
And soon his body colored like soap stone | F |
Gemmed with eyes of jet | G |
And you wondered in a trance of thought | H |
What he knew what he desired and why he lived at all | I |
But later your vision watched for men and women | J |
Hiding in burrows of fate amid great cities | K |
Looking for the souls of them to come out | L |
So that you could see | M |
How they lived and for what | N |
And why they kept crawling so busily | M |
Along the sandy way where water fails | O |
As the summer wanes | P |
