Theodore The Poet Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKLMNMOP| As a boy Theodore you sat for long hours | A |
| On the shore of the turbid Spoon | B |
| With deep set eye staring at the door of the crawfish's burrow | C |
| Waiting for him to appear pushing ahead | D |
| First his waving antennae like straws of hay | E |
| And soon his body colored like soap stone | F |
| Gemmed with eyes of jet | G |
| And you wondered in a trance of thought | H |
| What he knew what he desired and why he lived at all | I |
| But later your vision watched for men and women | J |
| Hiding in burrows of fate amid great cities | K |
| Looking for the souls of them to come out | L |
| So that you could see | M |
| How they lived and for what | N |
| And why they kept crawling so busily | M |
| Along the sandy way where water fails | O |
| As the summer wanes | P |
