The Town Marshal Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDECFGHIJKILIMM

The Prohibitionists made me Town MarshalA
When the saloons were voted outB
Because when I was a drinking manC
Before I joined the church I killed a SwedeD
At the saw mill near Maple GroveE
And they wanted a terrible manC
Grim righteous strong courageousF
And a hater of saloons and drinkersG
To keep law and order in the villageH
And they presented me with a loaded caneI
With which I struck Jack McGuireJ
Before he drew the gun with which he killedK
The Prohibitionists spent their money in vainI
To hang him for in a dreamL
I appeared to one of the twelve jurymenI
And told him the whole secret storyM
Fourteen years were enough for killing meM
