Schroeder The Fisherman Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBCBDEFAFGHADIAJK

I sat on the bank above BernadotteA
And dropped crumbs in the waterB
Just to see the minnows bump each otherB
Until the strongest got the prizeC
Or I went to my little pastureB
Where the peaceful swine were asleep in the wallowD
Or nosing each other lovinglyE
And emptied a basket of yellow cornF
And watched them push and squeal and biteA
And trample each other to get the cornF
And I saw how Christian Dallman's farmG
Of more than three thousand acresH
Swallowed the patch of Felix SchmidtA
As a bass will swallow a minnowD
And I say if there's anything in manI
Spirit or conscience or breath of GodA
That makes him different from fishes or hogsJ
I'd like to see it workK
