Roy Butler Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKLMNLOLLPL QL

If the learned Supreme Court of IllinoisA
Got at the secret of every caseB
As well as it does a case of rapeC
It would be the greatest court in the worldD
A jury of neighbors mostly with Butch WeldyE
As foreman found me guilty in ten minutesF
And two ballots on a case like thisG
Richard Bandle and I had trouble over a fenceH
And my wife and Mrs Bandle quarreledI
As to whether Ipava was a finer town than Table GroveJ
I awoke one morning with the love of GodK
Brimming over my heart so I went to see RichardL
To settle the fence in the spirit of Jesus ChristM
I knocked on the door and his wife openedN
She smiled and asked me in I enteredL
She slammed the door and began to screamO
Take your hands off you low down varletL
Just then her husband enteredL
I waved my hands choked up with wordsP
He went for his gun and I ran outL
But neither the Supreme Court nor my wifeQ
Believed a word she saidL
