Peleg Poague Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHFIJKLMNOB

Horses and men are just alikeA
There was my stallion Billy LeeB
Black as a cat and trim as a deerC
With an eye of fire keen to startD
And he could hit the fastest speedE
Of any racer around Spoon RiverF
But just as you'd think he couldn't loseG
With his lead of fifty yards or moreH
He'd rear himself and throw the riderF
And fall back over tangled upI
Completely gone to piecesJ
You see he was a perfect fraudK
He couldn't win he couldn't workL
He was too light to haul or plow withM
And no one wanted colts from himN
And when I tried to drive him wellO
He ran away and killed meB
