Oaks Tutt Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRST UEVWWX

My mother was for woman's rightsA
And my father was the rich miller at London MillsB
I dreamed of the wrongs of the world and wanted to right themC
When my father died I set out to see peoples and countriesD
In order to learn how to reform the worldE
I traveled through many landsF
I saw the ruins of RomeG
And the ruins of AthensH
And the ruins of ThebesI
And I sat by moonlight amid the necropolis of MemphisJ
There I was caught up by wings of flameK
And a voice from heaven said to meL
Injustice Untruth destroyed them Go forthM
Preach Justice Preach TruthN
And I hastened back to Spoon RiverO
To say farewell to my mother before beginning my workP
They all saw a strange light in my eyeQ
And by and by when I talked they discoveredR
What had come in my mindS
Then Jonathan Swift Somers challenged me to debateT
The subject I taking the negativeU
Pontius Pilate the Greatest Philosopher of the WorldE
And he won the debate by saying at lastV
Before you reform the world Mr TuttW
Please answer the question of Pontius PilateW
'What is Truth 'X
