Madeline Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEBE FGBG HIJI KLJL MNON

I almost heard your little heartA
Begin to beat and since that hourB
Your life has grown apace and blossomedC
Fed by the same miraculous powerB
-
That moved the rivulet of your lifeD
And made your heart begin to beatE
Now all day your steps are a patterB
Oh what swift and musical feetE
-
You sleep I wait to see you wakeF
With wonder eyes and hands that reachG
I laugh to hear your thoughts that gatherB
Too fast on your budding lips for speechG
-
Your sunny hair is cut as ifH
'Twere trimmed around a yellow crockI
How gay the ribbon and oh how cunningJ
The flaring skirt of the little frockI
-
You build and play and search and pryK
And hunt for dolls and forgotten toysL
Why do you never tire of playingJ
Or cease from mischief or cease from noiseL
-
You will not sleep You are tired of the houseM
You are just as naughty as you can beN
Madeline Madeline come to the gardenO
And play with Marcia under the treeN
