Lydia Humphrey Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEAFGAHHIJ

Back and forth back and forth to and from the churchA
With my Bible under my armB
Till I was gray and oldC
Unwedded alone in the worldD
Finding brothers and sisters in the congregationE
And children in the churchA
I know they laughed and thought me queerF
I knew of the eagle souls that flew high in the sunlightG
Above the spire of the church and laughed at the churchA
Disdaining me not seeing meH
But if the high air was sweet to them sweet was the church to meH
It was the vision vision vision of the poetsI
DemocratizedJ
