Judge Selah Lively Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEEFGHIJHKLMNOPQ

Suppose you stood just five feet twoA
And had worked your way as a grocery clerkB
Studying law by candle lightC
Until you became an attorney at lawD
And then suppose through your diligenceE
And regular church attendanceE
You became attorney for Thomas RhodesF
Collecting notes and mortgagesG
And representing all the widowsH
In the Probate Court And through it allI
They jeered at your size and laughed at your clothesJ
And your polished boots And then supposeH
You became the County JudgeK
And Jefferson Howard and Kinsey KeeneL
And Harmon Whitney and all the giantsM
Who had sneered at you were forced to standN
Before the bar and say Your HonorO
Well don't you think it was naturalP
That I made it hard for themQ
