Johnnie Sayre Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHFIFGJ

Father thou canst never knowA
The anguish that smote my heartB
For my disobedience the moment I feltC
The remorseless wheel of the engineD
Sink into the crying flesh of my legE
As they carried me to the home of widow MorrisF
I could see the school house in the valleyG
To which I played truant to steal rides upon the trainsH
I prayed to live until I could ask your forgivenessF
And then your tears your broken words of comfortI
From the solace of that hour I have gained infinite happinessF
Thou wert wise to chisel for meG
Taken from the evil to comeJ
