John M. Church Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFBGFDBH

I was attorney for the QA
And the Indemnity Company which insuredB
The owners of the mineC
I pulled the wires with judge and juryD
And the upper courts to beat the claimsE
Of the crippled the widow and orphanF
And made a fortune thereatB
The bar association sang my praisesG
In a high flown resolutionF
And the floral tributes were manyD
But the rats devoured my heartB
And a snake made a nest in my skullH
