John Ballard Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEBFGBHIJHIKIIK

In the lust of my strengthA
I cursed God but he paid no attention to meB
I might as well have cursed the starsC
In my last sickness I was in agony but I was resoluteD
And I cursed God for my sufferingE
Still He paid no attention to meB
He left me alone as He had always doneF
I might as well have cursed the Presbyterian steepleG
Then as I grew weaker a terror came over meB
Perhaps I had alienated God by cursing himH
One day Lydia Humphrey brought me a bouquetI
And it occurred to me to try to make friends with GodJ
So I tried to make friends with HimH
But I might as well have tried to make friends with the bouquetI
Now I was very close to the secretK
For I really could make friends with the bouquetI
By holding close to me the love in me for the bouquetI
And so I was creeping upon the secret butK
