I arise in the silence of the dawn hourA
And softly steal out to the gardenB
Under the Favrile goblet of the dawningC
And a wind moves out of the south landD
Like a film of silverA
And thrills with a far borne messageE
The flowers of the gardenB
Poppies untie their scarlet hoods and wave themF
To the south wind as he passesG
But the zinnias and calendulasG
In a mood of calm reserve nod faintlyH
As the south wind whispers the secretI
Of the dawn hourA
-
I stand in the silence of the dawn hourA
In the gardenB
As the star of morning fadesG
Flying from scythes of airJ
The hare bells purples and golden glowK
On the sand hill back of the orchardL
Race before the feet of the windM
But clusters of oak leaves over the yellow sand rimN
Begin to flutter and glistenB
And in a moment in a twinkled passionB
The blazing rapiers of the sun are flashedO
As he fences the lilac lights of the skyP
And drives them up where the ice of the melting moonQ
Is drowned in the waste of morningC
-
-
-
In the silence of the gardenB
At the dawn hourA
I turn and see youR
You who knew and followedS
You who knew the dawn hourA
And its sky like a Favrile gobletI
You who knew the south windM
Bearing the secret of the morningC
To waking gardens fields and forestsG
You in a gown of green O footed IrisG
With eyes of dryad grayT
And the blown glory of unawakened tressesG
A phantom sprung out of the garden's enchantmentU
In the silence of the dawn hourA
-
-
-
And here I behold youR
Amid a trance of color silent musicV
The embodied spirit of the morningC
Wind from the south land flashing beams of the sunB
Caught in the twinkling oak leavesG
Poppies who wave their untied hoods to the south windM
And the imperious bows of zinnias and calendulasG
The star of morning drowned and lights of lilacW
Turned white for the woe of the moonQ
And the silence of the dawn hourA
-
-
-
And there to take you in my arms and feel youR
In the glory of the dawn hourA
Along the sinuous rhythm of flesh and fleshX
To know your spirit by that onenessG
Of living and of love in the twinkled passionB
Of life re lit and visionedM
In dryad eyes beholdingC
The dancing leaping touching hands and racingC
Rapturous moment of the arisen sunB
And the first drop of day out of this cup of FavrileK
There to behold youR
Our spirits lost togetherA
In the silence of the dawn hourA
