In The Car Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE CGHG IJHJ KLML NOCP HQRS OACA

We paused to say good byA
As we thought for a little whileB
Alone in the car in the cornerC
Around the turn of the aisleB
-
A quiver came in your voiceD
Your eyes were sorrowful tooE
'Twas over I strode to the doorwayF
Then turned to wave an adieuE
-
But you had not come from the cornerC
And though I had gone so farG
I retraced and faced you comingH
Into the aisle of the carG
-
You stopped as one who was caughtI
In an evil mood by surpriseJ
I want to forget I am tryingH
To forget the look in your eyesJ
-
Your face was blank and coldK
Like Lot's wife turned to saltL
I suddenly trapped and discoveredM
Your soul in a hidden faultL
-
Your eyes were tearless and wideN
And your wide eyes looked on meO
Like a M nad musing murderC
Or the mask of MelpomeneP
-
And there in a flash of lightningH
I learned what I never could proveQ
That your heart contained no sorrowR
And your heart contained no loveS
-
And my heart is light and heavyO
And this is the reason whyA
I am glad we parted foreverC
And sad for the last good byA
