Homer Clapp Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKLMANOPFQ

Often Aner Clute at the gateA
Refused me the parting kissB
Saying we should be engaged before thatC
And just with a distant clasp of the handD
She bade me good night as I brought her homeE
From the skating rink or the revivalF
No sooner did my departing footsteps die awayG
Than Lucius AthertonH
So I learned when Aner went to PeoriaI
Stole in at her window or took her ridingJ
Behind his spanking team of baysK
Into the countryL
The shock of it made me settle downM
And I put all the money I got from my father's estateA
Into the canning factory to get the jobN
Of head accountant and lost it allO
And then I knew I was one of Life's foolsP
Whom only death would treat as the equalF
Of other men making me feel like a manQ
