Hiram Scates Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDDEFGHIJCAKLIMLAC FFGHINA

Tried to win the nominationA
For president of the County boardB
And I made speeches all over the CountyC
Denouncing Solomon Purple my rivalD
As an enemy of the peopleD
In league with the master foes of manE
Young idealists broken warriorsF
Hobbling on one crutch of hopeG
Souls that stake their all on the truthH
Losers of worlds at heaven's biddingI
Flocked about me and followed my voiceJ
As the savior of the CountyC
But Solomon won the nominationA
And then I faced aboutK
And rallied my followers to his standardL
And made him victor made him KingI
Of the Golden Mountain with the doorM
Which closed on my heels just as I enteredL
Flattered by Solomon's invitationA
To be the County board's secretaryC
And out in the cold stood all my followersF
Young idealists broken warriorsF
Hobbling on one crutch of hopeG
Souls that staked their all on the truthH
Losers of worlds at heaven's biddingI
Watching the Devil kick the MillenniumN
Over the Golden MountainA
