Henry Layton Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFBCGHDFIWhoever thou art who passest by | A |
Know that my father was gentle | B |
And my mother was violent | C |
While I was born the whole of such hostile halves | D |
Not intermixed and fused | E |
But each distinct feebly soldered together | F |
Some of you saw me as gentle | B |
Some as violent | C |
Some as both | G |
But neither half of me wrought my ruin | H |
It was the falling asunder of halves | D |
Never a part of each other | F |
That left me a lifeless soul | I |
