Enoch Dunlap Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFFGBCHIJKLMNCN

How many times during the twenty yearsA
I was your leader friends of Spoon RiverB
Did you neglect the convention and caucusC
And leave the burden on my handsD
Of guarding and saving the people's causeE
Sometimes because you were illF
Or your grandmother was illF
Or you drank too much and fell asleepG
Or else you said He is our leaderB
All will be well he fights for usC
We have nothing to do but followH
But oh how you cursed me when I fellI
And cursed me saying I had betrayed youJ
In leaving the caucus room for a momentK
When the people's enemies there assembledL
Waited and watched for a chance to destroyM
The Sacred Rights of the PeopleN
You common rabble I left the caucusC
To go to the urinalN
