Edith Conant Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOAPQDR STU

We stand about this place we the memoriesA
And shade our eyes because we dread to readB
Juneth aged years and daysC
And all things are changedD
And we we the memories stand here for ourselves aloneE
For no eye marks us or would know why we are hereF
Your husband is dead your sister lives far awayG
Your father is bent with ageH
He has forgotten you he scarcely leaves the houseI
Any moreJ
No one remembers your exquisite faceK
Your lyric voiceL
How you sang even on the morning you were strickenM
With piercing sweetness with thrilling sorrowN
Before the advent of the child which died with youO
It is all forgotten save by us the memoriesA
Who are forgotten by the worldP
All is changed save the river and the hillQ
Even they are changedD
Only the burning sun and the quiet stars are the sameR
And we we the memories stand here in aweS
Our eyes closed with the weariness of tearsT
In immeasurable wearinessU
