Somehow the world and the other doctors | C |
Know what's in your heart as soon as you make | F |
This high souled resolution | E |
And the way of it is they starve you out | G |
And no one comes to you but the poor | H |
And you find too late that being a doctor | I |
Is just a way of making a living | J |
And when you are poor and have to carry | K |
The Christian creed and wife and children | E |
All on your back it is too much | L |
That's why I made the Elixir of Youth | M |
Which landed me in the jail at Peoria | A |
Branded a swindler and a crook | N |
