Dr. Siegfried Iseman Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDECFEGHIJKELMANO

I said when they handed me my diplomaA
I said to myself I will be goodB
And wise and brave and helpful to othersC
I said I will carry the Christian creedD
Into the practice of medicineE
Somehow the world and the other doctorsC
Know what's in your heart as soon as you makeF
This high souled resolutionE
And the way of it is they starve you outG
And no one comes to you but the poorH
And you find too late that being a doctorI
Is just a way of making a livingJ
And when you are poor and have to carryK
The Christian creed and wife and childrenE
All on your back it is too muchL
That's why I made the Elixir of YouthM
Which landed me in the jail at PeoriaA
Branded a swindler and a crookN
By the upright Federal JudgeO
