Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKLHMI was not beloved of the villagers | A |
But all because I spoke my mind | B |
And met those who transgressed against me | C |
With plain remonstrance hiding nor nurturing | D |
Nor secret griefs nor grudges | E |
That act of the Spartan boy is greatly praised | F |
Who hid the wolf under his cloak | G |
Letting it devour him uncomplainingly | H |
It is braver I think to snatch the wolf forth | I |
And fight him openly even in the street | J |
Amid dust and howls of pain | K |
The tongue may be an unruly member | L |
But silence poisons the soul | H |
Berate me who will I am content | M |
