Daniel M'cumber Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHCIJKLMDNAO| When I went to the city Mary McNeely | A |
| I meant to return for you yes I did | B |
| But Laura my landlady's daughter | C |
| Stole into my life somehow and won me away | D |
| Then after some years whom should I meet | E |
| But Georgine Miner from Niles a sprout | F |
| Of the free love Fourierist gardens that flourished | G |
| Before the war all over Ohio | H |
| Her dilettante lover had tired of her | C |
| And she turned to me for strength and solace | I |
| She was some kind of a crying thing | J |
| One takes in one's arms and all at once | K |
| It slimes your face with its running nose | L |
| And voids its essence all over you | M |
| Then bites your hand and springs away | D |
| And there you stand bleeding and smelling to heaven | N |
| Why Mary McNeely I was not worthy | A |
| To kiss the hem of your robe | O |
